Better late than never.....quak.....

Hi peeps,

Welcome to another blog entry of Vincent's BeiJing experience.
Before I begin any further, allow me to ask everyone of you a question.

"What first came to your mind when I said BeiJing?"

Is it the Great Wall of China?
Or the air pollution?
NOPE!!!!!!
BeiJing duck is what first came across your mind when I ask about BeiJing.

Time flies when you are enjoying it,how true is it as I have been in China for nearly 2 months.
Yet,I finally went to eat a BeiJing roast duck yesterday (4 November 2015).
Better late than never, we went to the restaurant that one of my friend recommended.

There are actually many restaurants that sells BeiJing roast duck, but finding a good one is no easy feat.
Even those stores with over 100 years of history may not taste as good as the others who may not have such a long history.

The above example can be easily translated into Singapore context.
For example, having a wedding dinner in the city area is definitely more expensive than holding a wedding dinner at non-city area.
Obviously, the wedding dinner in the city will cost more but it may not taste as good as the one located at non-city area.

Let's shift back to the main topic, the BeiJing roast duck.

Below are some of the photos that I have taken inside the restaurant.

Pretty cute isn't it?

This restaurant service is so good that they concoct the sauce right in front of you. (The sauce is used to enhance the flavor of the duck.
Not only the sauce is tasty, but it is appealing to the eyes as well.

Enough with the suspense......
It's time to reveal the main dish.

I really hope that you can see how crispy the skin of the duck is....
The taste of the duck meat smells heavenly as well.

With the accompanied side dish....
They definiely improve the overall experience of eatinv this dish.

Apart from the BeiJing roast duck, we order other dishes as well.

Hmmmm.....
Try not to droll over these pictures of the food.
Meanwhile.....
I will reminisce about this delicious meal.

See 'ya for the next blog entry.

Heaven with the squad

On 24th October, I went to the Temple of Heaven.

Oh yes,for the blog entry today,I will be attempting to write it in Chinese :)

跟往常一样,我会提供天壇公园的历史与文化的网站。
Temple of Heaven Intro

When east meet west!!!!

After arriving in China for more than a month, often times, I'll missed Singapore as She is better in many aspects such as the cleanliness and wide variety of food choices.

However, among all the reasons on why I love Singapore even more after arriving in China, the top reason is because we are literally "The east meet west".

Here's a little history lesson for some of you, when Singapore was first founded, it was still a fishing village then, and it was the British that found Singapore, since then, our people are often opened to the western culture.
For example, eating western cuisine and watching their drama serial and movie.
On the other hand, we've the ASIAN root within us, so we are also opened to other countries drama and variety show such as HongKong,Korea,Japan.

By having these 2 roots within us, we are able to connect with people from different countries, different continents.

When I first arrived in China, the first batch of international friends I've made is the Korean.
Probably, we're ASIAN and we have similar mindset.

Alvin and I are so close to the Koreans that we can just visit one another room to rest and talk with one another.
We even went out shopping and have dinner together !!!!

Things continue to get better when we grew close quickly with friends from other nationality, some of which includes Germany,England,France.

I really hope that through these photos, I can convey my joy of making new friends and learning the culture of one another.
As we often teach them Chinese and in return, they'll teach us their native language.
Such precious friendship bond will always be cherished in the deepest of my heart.

To end off today post, it's really a blessing to be born in Singapore as we can speak and write 2 of the most widely conversed language in the world as well as being opened to both the east and the West culture.

I LOVE SINGAPORE !!!!

Forbidden City/故宫(紫禁城)

10 September 2015,

Hello peeps!!!
Today blog entry will be about the Forbidden City in Beijing China, 故宫 is how people referred to it now, it's used to be called 紫禁城。

If you guys want some background information of the Forbidden city, I'll attached a link below this paragraph

History of Forbidden City
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbidden_City

So our group depart on a journey to the Forbidden City @ 8 a.m. in the morning.......
(8 a.m. is too early for me :(   )

Nonetheless, although we faced some small hiccups, we are still able to leave the dormitory on time to purchase the tickets.

They have limited number of tickets sold each day, so be sure to be there early to avoid any dissapointment.

The picture above is the first group shot we have taken before entering the Forbidden City.

If you've read the link I've attached above.
You would learnt that there are a lot of different palaces in the Forbidden City.

The problem is.....
They all looked the same to me, I'll leave you peeps to judge for yourself as I'll attached more photos later on.

The Forbidden City is really big, if you really want to explore it to every details, it can take you more than 4 hours to do so.

After finishing walking the Forbidden City, everyone is drained and tired....
EVERYONE!!!!!

Personally, I'm not a person who really appreciates ancient related stuffs...
So this trip isn't that fruitful for me, but it is still fun because everyone is together and that beat everything !!!

不到长城非好汉/ The Trip to The Great Wall of China

8 October,

As the saying goes,不到长城非好汉. (Your visit to China does not count if you do not visit the Great Wall)

So today,I'll be sharing the school arranged trip for the international students to the Great Wall of China.😊😊😊

Before I show the photos of the Great Wall,  what is your impression of it???

Must be very long!?
Since it's initial usage is to slow down and confuse the enemies to prevent suffering from direct confrontation.

So how's it now?
Now that I've show you the picture, it must be longer than what you've expected.

Personally, I will not recommend people to visit the Great Wall during winter season because the Great Wall is very steep.
The gap between each gap is also very wide, which make it dangerous as one might fall and injure himself or herself easily.

Fortunately, none of us injured ourselves and we definitely enjoy the trip to The Great Wall of China
*Look at how happy we are when we reach the peak*

To end this blog entry, let's have some food for thought.
When The Great Wall of China is first built, it's with the sole purpose of delaying the enemies progress and taking the opportunity to kill them.
Yet today,it's one of the world most famous tourist attraction.

So maybe,in today world, whatever actions we humans are taking, might have an irreversible consequences to the future generation.

End of this blog entry.
I'll have some more photos posted, feel free to browse through them.
